We are gearing up to launch a major new product written in Ruby on Rails and we’d like you to take the lead on that project. Join our small, dedicated team in a senior role creating innovative web software for media companies. This is an opportunity to have a big impact and to be involved in a wide range of tasks, from direct customer support and new product development to system administration. We're also a leading print design and consulting firm in the newspaper industry and we’re all about making money on the web. And we built media web sites using a LAMP stack and other web software so there are lots of other things to learn. We’re located in East Providence, R.I.

We're flexible, but these are kinds the traits and skills we are looking for:

-- 2+ years recent experience developing Rails applications in a production environment.

-- Sophisticated and attractive UX production expertise for desktop and mobile, using jquery, bootstrap and frameworks like backbone or angular.

-- Familiarity with both standard relational and noSQL databases.

-- Knowledge of open source, “devops” style deployment, management and monitoring solutions.

-- Experience building and integrating with REST APIs and other third party integrations.

-- A good communicator. Good at brainstorming and working with others.

-- The ability to quickly diagnose and fix problems, be able to listen and discuss issues with clients in lay terminology, and to stay calm and cool under pressure is important.

-- Problem solver with strong initiative. We will need you to take ownership and manage projects with little direction.

-- Reliable person who is good at making deadlines.

While not required, you get bonus points for:

-- A good sense of design and UI. An appreciation or sensitivity to typography, photography, colors, etc. will help you a lot.

-- Mobile site development experience.

-- Linux server administration abilities.

-- Knowledge or experience or at least an interest in the media industry, especially newspapers.

-- Good writing/editing skills.

-- Knowledge of LAMP stack programming.

-- Experience in developing functionality in WordPress including plugin development.

We offer a flexible, friendly and supportive work environment. You will have a strong impact on everything we do and will be involved and listened to. Benefits include competitive salary, stock options and a great health care plan, including dental coverage.

Please send a cover letter, resume, code samples and salary history. Only New England applicants will be considered. This is a full-time position to work in our East Providence, RI, office. Send your information to jobs@creativecirclemedia.com.

We look forward to meeting you!
