NORTH JERSEY MEDIA GROUP, Weekly Division

This is an ongoing and extensive redesign and training program for a growing group of nearly 40 weekly papers in northern New Jersey. Many of the papers in the group, owned by the North Jersey Media Group, had been purchased from other owners and the training and experience of the staffs varied widely. Our mandate was to bring everyone in the group up to a relatively high level of training and provide fresh, efficient and appropriate designs for each paper’s market. We also wanted to reduce the number of formats and standardize where possible to facilitate content sharing and ease production.

The project began in late 2002 and is slated to be completed in mid 2005.

Kevin Dilley is project coordinator and lead designer. Other designers who have contributed to the project include Kristen Powell, Bill Ostendorf, Jennifer Boucher, Deborah Withey, Fran Maher, Ellen Meany, Mindy Oswald and several others.
