WE PROVIDE a very different and collaborative way of designing newspapers. We believe – and we think we can demonstrate – that our process is the most effective way to change and improve any publication.
We keep you and your staff involved throughout the process and we give you lots of options and ideas. We work in teams and make you part of our team. That’s why our company name is Creative Circle and not just the name of our lead designer.
We design solutions that are practical and work with your staffing and equipment. Giant weather maps and fancy refer boxes are not for everyone.
We believe in content and keep the reader in the forefront of everything we do. We are journalists – many of our key people have reporting or copyediting backgrounds. We will improve your journalism.
We make sure you get all the training your staff needs to implement and maintain your design. (As proof of that, this web site uses only published pages for “after” samples. This is the work of the staffs of our clients, not just our prototypes.)
We have never had a negative reaction to any of our redesigns. In fact, most of our clients are growing in circulation.
OUR DESIGNS ALL LOOK DIFFERENT. We have more than a dozen talented, seasoned designers – most of them work full time at newspapers and freelance for us – and we assemble a different team for each project. We never use cookie-cutter solutions.
Our principal, Bill Ostendorf, who has done everything at newspapers from taking pictures to writing page one stories and dreaming up new product ideas, plays a hands-on role in every project.
And we will simply spend more time with you and work hard until you are satisfied.
WE ONLY TAKE ON A FEW CLIENTS each year and our goal is to have strong, ongoing relationships with those clients for several years. Changing and improving a newspaper is not a quick hit exercise. Anyone who tells you this can be done in a few months just doesn’t care about your long-term success.
We’re not trying to be the biggest or the most famous or the most profitable design firm. We don’t fly first class or run up expense bills (we don’t even bill you for expenses). We are very low key. But we’re passionate about what we do and we want to do it well. When we take on a client, it is a deep commitment for us. We will help you and deliver for you.
There isn’t another designer or design firm in the world that can even begin to claim all these things. |
